glorious baked pasta extravaganza!

all baked together, with layers of meat sauce, diced prosciutto, béchamel, asparagus and peas!

It was about someone who woke up on a monday morning

in a nearly paralyzing state of grogginess,

and no matter what he did,

neither his body nor mind could respond to mundanities of waking up and getting ready for …………

(cue the creepy b-movie horn stabs)

Work.

-yet his work day kept creeping towards him,  lurching,

threatening him with every tick of the clock,

growing stronger with every drop of spilled coffee,

tormenting him as he paced back and forth, trying in vain to collect his personal effects and prepare to face………

THE DAY!

-there would be a struggle,

a hair-raising 6 block downhill bike ride down James St in the rain,

and many incoherent and unintelligible mumblings..

……It would probably have some cheesy happy ending, where he finally had a third cup of coffee,

meets the drain repar guy at the restaurant in the nick of time,

gets the girl,

and whips up some pasta special with an appropriate amount of pickled-pepper ZING!

-to ward off any further demons.

Pasta misti, with castelvetrano olives, celery, lemon and garlic.

With the weather up into the 80′s, I had a craving for some of the flavors of my roots…

Combined with some California sweet corn, sage and cream,

-it takes me back home to the sunny mesas of the high desert.

Tossed with leaf shaped pasta, or

“Foglie”

All the way from Italy, our new 23mm Rigatoni die has arrived!

It’s serious.

-Served with overnight braised, tuscan style beef.

It’s the kind of pasta dish that says

“come at me, …..if you think you’re man enough”

Clearly, some black-suited-number-crunching-high-security-clearance-weather-controlling member of the Illuminati

must of mis-keyed a few digits when he was punching in the numbers for the temperatures today.

Resulting in Seattle being the warmest city on the west coast today!

We will let it slide just this once…..

And in the meantime, we will pretend we are sitting the veranda of our Sicilian bungalow…
